The thing to remember is this happens to all of us and its what we make out of the struggles’ that matters.

I know for myself, I have struggled a lot in my life. I also know that out of those struggles is what has developed me into the person who I am proud of today. My learning curve exponentially increased during those times of struggle as well as change seemed to be a daily practice.

Looking back at all of the “bad” times in my life is when in actuality; really good things were about to happen. However, it can be really hard to persevere on when the outlook seems so dim. Remembering that good times come out of bad is what makes it increasingly easier to go through hard times.

What should we do when we have these struggles?

1. Fully Accept It – Live in the moment, don’t fight it, and know that the current struggle will pass.
2. Find The Good In It – there is something good in everything bad. Focus on the positive not the negative.
3. Learn From It – There are lessons in everything in life. Learn from the experience and apply it going forward and next time around.

We all struggle, but you have the CHOICE of what to do with it.

If you liked this article, please share it on del.icio.us, StumbleUpon or Twitter. I’d appreciate it.

Water Into Ice

Business

Change

humans

ice

water

Yesterday I was dirking some ice-cold water out of my refrigerator and it made me think of this analogy for business. Business is business. But if water gets cold enough it will change into ice. If it is in a cup it will fit in that mold, and if you spill it out on the counter it will just follow to the path of least resistance. Water as we know it is just make up of the molecules H20, two hydrogen atoms, and one oxygen atom.

As humans we are made up of molecules as well and are in full control of ourselves. When water turns to ice its physical appearance changes but not is chemical properties. Same as humans. When we want something to happen for our business our molecules inside of us start stirring up and moving around which changes us and our state to do something about it. We are still the same, just appear different. For some its fear, for others its change and action. Change is good, whether it’s water to ice, or when we need to change ourselves in business.

Water changes into something different in a different environment and is very adaptable. In business, don’t be afraid of change.

If you liked this article, please share it on del.icio.us, StumbleUpon or Twitter. I’d appreciate it.

Taking Risks

Business

Change

entrepreneur

risk

success

Being an entrepreneur is all about taking risks. You have to put yourself on the line and take risks, and not just every once and a while, but constantly. Most of the time nothing will come out of taking risks and you will have many risks that don’t turn out. But every so often, someone will pick up that phone, will accept that meeting, or you will meet that person that will change your life forever.

Most people go through their entire life never taking risks. Humans are incredible creatures and are able to do just about anything they put their mind to if the want it badly enough and are willing to take enough risks knowing that there will be potential failure to make it happen. In business, and as an entrepreneur, taking risks needs to be or become part of your anatomy.

Take risks often, for you will be rewarded.

Philosophy vs. Psychology

philosophy

Change

Freud

Future

Jung

psychology

We have all heard of the some of the original pioneers in modern day psychology such as Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud as well as legendary philosophers LaoTzu, Aristotle, and Socrates. However, major shifts are starting to happen in both fields that are very exciting.

In the book “Plato Not Prozac” written by Lou Marinoff, PhD, Lou talks much about a tipping point that is happening in the world of psychology and philosophy. A relatively new field called “Philosophical Counseling” is gaining momentum.

Marinoff, who is the founding president on American Philosophical Practitioners Association, says that his clients don’t need to be seen for 5 years going on and on talking about their past or their parents. Most only need to be seen once, or a few times, and the longest he has had to see a client is one year. Very different than the more traditional cognitive or developmental psychology. People who are looking for answers in their life are learning the teachings of philosophers not psychology.

We don’t need to look at our past and dissect why things happened. It happened. Good for it. What you CAN change, which is more philosophically based is THE FUTURE.
